MINT 30mm GAU 8 CANNON ROUND WARTHOG inert shell
Beautiful condition 30mm PGU-15/B round for use in the GAU-8 Avenger cannon, which is used aboard the A-10 Thunderbolt II “Warthog” attack jet aircraft. The A-10 is used in fixed-wing close air support, forward air control, and ground-attack aircraft missions. The later “tank killing” role being its most effective use. The entire airframe was built around the rotary “gating gun” type cannon that fires this round. The Avenger cannon is one of the most effective aircraft cannons ever developed, which consequently makes the A10 one of the most important enemy-killing tools in the US Air Force’s arsenal. The cannon fires these rounds at the stunning rate of 4,200 rounds per minute…….which is 70 rounds per second. The round is 100% inert, measures almost a foot in length, and is in near mint condition. Makes for a very impressive display piece in your collection, in your gun store, the firing range, or the man cave! The cases have a variation in color, due to the aluminum anodizing process, so some cases are darker green, and some are much lighter green. Some have even a golden/greenish color to them. It’s also worth mentioning that the GAU-8 cannon is also used in the “Goalkeeper” Close-In Weapon System to destroy incoming threats to naval ships. Take a look at the videos below for more information on the A-10 Warthog, and its GAU-8 Avenger cannon……some very cool footage!
